Vision & Values

Our vision and values

After a wide ranging consultation that included children, families and staff, it was agreed that our school values statement was based upon the three values – honesty, kindness and respect. These 3 values underpin our school vision.

As part of Evolution Academy Trust we believe in and follow the same mission: To ensure all children leave our academies as well-education, confident and responsible citizens, enabling them to be fully prepared for their next stage of education.

As a school our values are to be honest, kind and respectful.

Honest
“We tell the truth, even when it’s hard. We take responsibility for our actions. We do the right thing, even when no one is watching.”

We own up to mistakes. We give truthful answers. We earn our rewards because we work honestly, and we work hard.

Kind
“We speak and act in ways that make others feel valued. We help without being asked. We include others and celebrate their success.”

We use positive language and actions and never unkind words. We help others and we do not allow bullying in our school. We welcome new students and guests into our school. We encourage others, especially when they find things hard. We share.

Respectful
“We listen when others speak. We follow instructions the first time. We look after each other, our school, and ourselves.”

We look smart and feel proud. We use our manners. We do not argue. We look after property. We are fair.

These values are visible in every classroom, corridor and conversation.

We practise them until they become habits - because that’s The Wensum Way.

Schools of Sanctuary

Wensum Junior School is very proud to say that, following our reapplication, we have maintained our School of Sanctuary status.

As a School of Sanctuary, Wensum is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all, especially those seeking sanctuary. This could be people whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a place of safety.

We aim to help children, staff and the wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and we extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. We are a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.
